Horrible Bosses 2

Rating: 2/5

Horrible bosses 1 was a good movie, not a great one but just fine to extract a few laughs out of you. It had that originalty of a new idea on the block and it worked like a charm. Unfortunately for the second installement it got lost a little bit on the way. What steadied the ship was the ingenuity of its actors, Jason Sudeikis is a true master of comedy, he can make a bad movie a good one. Charlie Day has his own style of goofiness mixed with spontaneity. Jason Bateman is the goody two shoes kind of guy, Jennifer Aniston the sex freak and here comes Chris Pine the charming boy to play the kid of a rich man who is targeted by our trio.
Horrible bosses 2 will get you to laugh from time to time but it does not reach the heights of its predecessor.

Unbroken

Rating: 2/5

Unbroken is Angelina Jolie's first movie as a director... so we have to watch it. Sadly there's a but. For a first movie it's not that bad, and a nice try, but there is some plot holes. For example how a person stranded on a boat in the middle of the sea would grow a goatee only and not have a beard, and how will he have a clean shave at the camp he was captured at? Did the Japanese give him a Gillette fusion pro glide? And how on earth when Louis Zamperini (Jack O'Connell) throws a bandage soaked of blood did the sharks avoid it? In real life sharks would rage like hell at first site of blood near it, it would unleash pure rage.
Let's put these minor things aside and move along. Sadly i can't say i enjoyed the movie, it's actions are at a very slow rate, the acting is very simple, although there is not a star name in the movie therefore it's understandable, the message is well received but the movie for me was far from enjoyable.
It narrates the brutal acts of war in the best way, the actors lost a significant amount of weight to play the role of war prisoners perfectly.
For Angelina it's a good start, not a great one but yet promising.
I think we can expect something a lot better from her in the future, i'm not saying the movie is bad, but it's not the blockbuster of a film one would expect from a star name making its debut in directing and also in a war movie, that's not easy for sure, it's the kind of movies that demands a lot, so we'll see what Angelina has in her bag for us in the future.

Interstellar

Rating: 3.5/5

Interstellar is not your typical movie night film. You can't invite friends over to your place for a movie and some beer and select this movie to watch it. Interstellar needs you to watch alone all by yourself to think deeply into what it offers. This movie offers us a new dimension to what human life can be after 100 years or even more. It offers a solution to save mankind and find a replacement to planet earth. Of course if one has to choose it's the final decision one can select, but nonetheless it's viable. Mathew Mcconaughey (Cooper) delivers the best he has and what we always expect from him like he always do. The movie wouldn't be the same without him. The veteran Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Matt Damon all of them work together to gift us the perfect sci-fi film of the year. It may be all imaginary, pure fiction, undoable and out of the equation, but Interstellar offers us a way to think, food for thought and a path to consider. Maybe earth wasn't meant to be the planet we will die on. Who knows...

The Water Diviner

Rating: 2.5/5

The water diviner is about an australian man who travels to turkey to find his 3 lost sons. On his journey he encounters several problems and issues, it's not an easy ride for him. His wife commited suicide, he has nothing, he is convinced his three sons are dead but don't give up hope on trying to find them.
What i find intriguing is how an aussie would get help from the turks who are under his country's mercy after losing the war to the allies. The turkish general seems so nice to a man who's countrymen killed his own people.
On the other hand the first hour of the movie seems like a decade. The sequence of action is very slow, the viewer will be interested in the film after the hour mark. And it seems as if the center of gravity of the movie is Russell Crowe. Without his touch this movie wouldn't even make it to the box office.

The water diviner is a fine movie, not excellent or astonishing or a mind blow but watchable. It just passed.

Black Sea

Rating: 4/5

Black sea... what a movie.
Okay it's not a mega millions blockbuster movie from hollywood with sponsorship deals and all that stuff. There's no superstar actor in it beside Jude Law (Robinson), but i enjoyed every minute of it. Sure some will say another actors, throw in a some more millions and we will have a treasure in our hands, but take nothing away from what we have now. This movie as simple as it is, blew my mind away by the way it kept me rooted to my seat the whole time. You can't take your eyes of the screen. Jude Law steadies the ship, make everything stick together and connects the dots. He's a well underrated superstar among the sea full of them right now.
It's british/russian cooperation, it's not hollywood, it's not a mega million movie, it's not full of superstars but it's not like any other movie. And i can guarantee it's worth every penny you spend on it.
Black Sea is a proper film.

American Sniper

Rating: 3.5/5

American Sniper is a movie by Clint Eastwood starring Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller.
Cooper plays the role of Chris Kyle an american soldier from texas in the seal unit, who goes to iraq following the attacks of 9/11 to help the us army find and isolate the mass destruction weapons.
Kyle is a deadly sniper who is called by his mates "the legend" because of his perfect shooting. The story revolves around the mental state of a soldier who goes abroad to fight an enemy and then returns home with a trauma from something he encountered while on duty.
We realize the extreme effort put by Cooper to imitate a citizen from Texas, either in the way he talks or in the way he walks and get dressed. Cooper did a magnificent job in being a Texan. And we can't ignore also the effort put by Miller to express the feeling of a wife who's husband is in a battlefield.
The only thing i hoped i would see in this movie was that the mental state of the soldier will get the bigger part of the running time instead of the battlefield warfare like any other war movie. The light should be in bigger part on the mental health of the soldier, the amercian army returned home with much more problems than physical ones, so that's why this movie had to be unique. I'm not saying it gets dull or slow at any part, but it should have had it's bigger part focused on the return to homeland and the mental issues a soldier can have from a war, and the post war life he lives.

The Imitation Game

Rating: 3.5/5

Like so many war movies, this film attracted my attention. Not every day we come along a movie that depicts the World War II from another dimension. This movie isn't about the battlefield conflicts and war heroes with guns and rifles. It's the making of the war behind the scenes if one might call it. Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) is called by the MI6 to help crack the enigma's (German code machine) coded letters in order to help the troops on the battlefield win the war.
The story doesn't get dull at any point, in fact in not a single minute of its 114 running time does the spectator get bored or distracted. And we can't ignore the major role played by Keira Knightley (Turing's wife). Knightley put an elegant touch on a simple role.
The Imitation Game runs smoothly and shed a light on a major point which was a controversial thing in England back at the time which is homosexuality. Turing was persecuted and his work was nullified. But Queen Elizabeth II granted him a posthumous pardon in 2013 which is nearly after 60 years of his death.
I enjoyed this movie and recommend it to anyone interested in knowing the true heroes of the war, and the genius Alan Turing was.
